Child custody orders must be followed in most cases

Parents who are dealing with child custody issues know that it is often difficult to force a child to go spend time with the other parent when the child doesn't want to go. This unwillingness can be because of a host of reasons, but one thing is certain -- the parent who isn't getting their visitation or custody time might turn to the court with allegations that the child custody order isn't being followed.

Keep up with changing divorce laws and procedures

In our previous blog post, we discussed how it might soon be possible to get an uncontested divorce even if you have children. This is a development that many people were looking forward to; however, it isn't going to apply to all divorces. Instead, there are certain criteria that must be met in order for this type of divorce to be used.

Uncontested divorce with children might be possible

Divorcing with children is something that isn't easy. You have to think about your children, as well as of yourself. In the eyes of the law, divorces with children have usually been considered contested so that the issues related to the children could be addressed. Recently, the Tennessee Supreme Court adopted forms and instructions that can allow parents of minor children to go through an uncontested divorce instead of having to be taken through the contested process. The new packet will be able to be used starting on Jan. 1, 2017.

Always put your child first in custody matters

All decisions that have to be made in a child custody case are important. These decisions will impact your children's lives from now until the day they become adults. This is the reason why every decision you make must be carefully considered. We can help you to determine what you need to think about as you consider each choice you have.
