Contested versus uncontested divorces in Tennessee

Divorcing someone you once loved can be a hard journey. It isn’t without some good points. In our previous blog post, we discussed some of the positive aspects of getting a divorce. If you are considering a divorce, you should try to focus on the positive aspects as much as possible so that you can move forward with what you feel is best for you.

We know that you didn’t decide to get a divorce without really thinking about it. We also understand that you probably want the whole process to be over with as soon as possible.

When it comes to a divorce, the fastest divorce possible is the uncontested divorce. In order to get an uncontested divorce, you and your ex have to agree on all parts of the divorce. There can’t be any issues that aren’t resolved. This means that how you divide property, for example, has to be agreed upon.

The other option for getting a divorce is to get a contested divorce. A contested divorce means that you don’t agree with your ex about every aspect of the divorce. Generally, if you have children or considerable assets, this is the type of divorce you will need. The same is usually true if alimony is an issue.

We know that protecting your rights during the entire process is vital. We can stand beside you as you negotiate matters with your ex. We can help you to ensure that you start your new life off with the best start possible. You don’t have to navigate the journey to divorce alone.
