Visitation is important for the parent-child relationship

On Behalf of | Jul 6, 2018 | Visitation

Parents who don’t have custody of their children often live for the time they do get to spend with them. These visits are important for the parent-child relationship since they allow both parties to spend time together. We understand how devastating it might be for a parent to find out that the visits with the children aren’t going to happen according to the child custody agreement.

There are many reasons why visits might be cancelled. The child might be sick, which really shouldn’t be an issue if you don’t mind caring for a sick child. The exception would be if it is detrimental for the child to be moved from his or her current location. In those cases, you might be able to work out a plan for you to go to the child.

If the reason for the visit being cancelled is because the other parent is just being mean and trying to keep you from the child, you might decide that you need to take action. This is a difficult situation that would require a court hearing, but it can be a very important step to take.

We are here to help you learn about the options that you have for these cases. They are very difficult for the children, so they must be handled quickly. In the end, going before a judge to protect your right to parent your children might be necessary. We are prepared to help you assert your case. We know your children are your world and that you want to spend time with them.
