Child custody matters are difficult but you must resolve them

We discussed some of the factors that play a part in child custody cases in one of our recent blog posts. Of all of these factors, the most important is determining what is in the child’s best interests. This is something that must be considered for each child in a case. If you have more than one child, each child must be considered individually.

We know that thinking about child custody, visitation and holiday schedules aren’t something fun for any parent. Most parents don’t want to have to miss holidays with their child. When the parents aren’t in a relationship, this is almost impossible. Of course, some parents can work together in a meaningful way that allows them to spend holidays together with their child.

Each child custody case has to be considered based on the facts that are present. If you and your ex can work together to come to the terms of the child custody agreement, you might find that the final order is something that works for you and your child.

Another thing that is important to remember is that child custody orders aren’t necessarily going to remain the same throughout the child’s life. You might have to revisit the order as the child grows older or as circumstances change. Modifications enable you to get the order fixed so that it continues to put the child’s best interests at the heart of the matter.

We know that you might have some concerns about your case. We are available to discuss the circumstances and help you learn about the ways any issues might be resolved so that you can settle into a new normal life with your child.
