Spending time with your children is an important part of being a parent. When you are divorced, you might not have as much time as you want with the children. This means that you will have to use what time you do have as best as you can. Here are some tips to help you make the most of the time:
Find activities that your children enjoy doing. These can be things to do at home or away from home. The important thing here is that you find things you can do together. Maybe you want to build model airplanes with your kids or you might enjoy hiking. Just make sure that there is a shared enjoyment so that everyone is making fun memories.
Learn as much as you can about the kids. If they don’t live with you, small details like their shoe or clothing size or favorite color or television characters might not seem too important. By making an effort to know these things, you are letting your children know they are important. Plus, it enables you to pick up something in their favorite color or featuring a character they like. This can really come in handy when you need to shop for Christmas, birthdays or other special days.
Do as much as you can with the children. Some activities might take place when your child is with your ex. Make it a point to attend school plays and other events that your child is participating in. This shows your children that you are always here to support them, even if you don’t live with them. You can have notification requirements put into the custody plan so that your ex will have to let you know about these activities.
